We compare telco plans. You get the savings.
Are you still pretending to know what an eSIM is? Stick around.

An eSIM is a permanent SIM card that lives inside your phone. When you change plans, rather than getting sent another piece of plastic, the SIM details can just be rewritten directly on to the internal SIM.

When you think of ‘fast internet’, Australia doesn’t usually come to mind.
But according to an Ookla report, we have some of the fastest Starlink download speeds in the world.

If someone wanted to pay less for their phone and internet bill this year, this is what I’d tell them.

Optus is having a seemingly random outage, with customers arbitrarily losing coverage across MVNOs and Optus proper. Luckily there is a quick fix straight from The IT Crowd.
Turn your phone off, and on again.
That should fix it.

Thinking 5G internet sucks is like thinking the Earth is flat. You’re missing perspective.

Apple is working on a foldable. No, not that one. Another one.

Apple’s book-style foldable - ultimately 2 iPhone Airs stuck together - is tipped to launch in September this year, but according to reports it is also working on an iPhone Flip, which would be like a regular iPhone folded in half.

Some customers can use their Telstra Points for discounts, but it's not the best value.

Telstra is rolling out “use points on bill discounts” as part of Telstra Plus.

25,300 buys you a once off $30 discount. 30,300 points a $5/mth discount for the year, or double it for $10 off instead.

Your Apple Watch can now check your blood pressure. Kind of.

Apple finally got TGA approval to roll out hypertension detection in Australia.

Are you thinking about ditching the NBN?
You’re not alone. At the start of the year we see a huge jump in people looking for non-NBN internet.

People care more about the Samsung S Ultra than the iPhone Pro Max
Well, assuming we split it up into Apple and Samsung people that is.

There is now a fix available. To install the update

Connect the impacted iPhone to WiFi
Tap Settings, then General, then About
Accept the carrier settings update
Confirm the update installed by going to Settings, then General, then About and make sure it says "Telstra 54.1" next to Service Provider
Some Telstra customers don’t have service since the new Apple iOS update.

Netgear has a new portable WiFi hotspot, but the cool part is that it has an inbuilt eSIM marketplace.

You know how you can watch TV shows in 60 second bits on TikTok?
Well soon you’ll be able to do that on Netflix.

Apple has a new AirTag, and all you really need to know is that it is 50% louder and has a 50% wider range.
Oh, and it costs the same as the old ones.

People don’t care about NBN 100 anymore.

Since the speed upgrades back in September, 45% of users comparing NBN plans on our site, now click on an NBN 500 plan. That is pretty much the same share of voice NBN 100 plans had prior to the upgrade.

AI is making phones more expensive. But not in the way you’d think.

According to Nothing CEO Carl Pei, it is the cost of memory that is dragging prices up.

If you’ve been waiting to buy a new iPhone, now is the time. 🤑

Most people buy the cheapest iPhone, but Samsung works a bit differently.

At launch, more than half of our users click on the Samsung Ultra, but only 30% go to the iPhone Pro Max. Both cost about the same, both have all the fanciest features. But iPhone users are more interested in the baseline.

Starlink’s cheapest Roam plan (which uses a mini, portable, satellite dish), has gone from 50GB to 100GB of data per month. And it still costs $80.

Not raising prices is pretty weird for a telco, so we looked for the caveat, but there isn’t one.

Roam free people. Or well, roam for $80.

Another Heated Rivalry is turning into a love story, with Apple and Google officially teaming up.

Maybe this means these two will kiss?

Probably not. But it does mean that Apple’s new version of Siri will use Google’s AI tech Gemini.

January is the second best time to buy a new iPhone.

For the past two years, telcos have discounted the new iPhone by $200 every January.
That is usually the biggest discount you’ll get until EOFY sales.
Here’s how you make sure you don’t miss out.

Samsung’s new phones are running late, and it is all because of this guy.
The Galaxy S25 Edge.

Would you rather get free stuff, or a cash discount?

Every year telcos sweeten the deal on the new Samsung phones by giving away free tech, or discounting the price, but which one do Aussies actually prefer? Let's do a quick case study.
