Excellent! The Fannies are such a great band.

Great song, great video.

Incredibly inspiring. Brian Eno is not only one of the most important figures in modern music, he is also extremely knowledgeable about art and life. And Ezra is able to bring out the best in him.

Today’s episode of The Ezra Klein Show.

The musician and record producer Brian Eno delves into his experiments with ambient music, his thoughts on generative A.I. and his deep gratitude for the uniqueness of human life.

Patchy, yes, but I actually think quite highly of some of Nova Mobs songs, and Good News For Modern Man has great tracks as well. Also, "Schoolbuses Are For Children" from "Hot Wax" is a standout in his later work. Truly a gifted songwriter, drummer and singer.

This is also the case in many cafés and restaurants in Copenhagen (Denmark). Totally normal by now, and most are Europeans, some Amercians as well.

This is really interesting. Some people in the thread make the point that photo ops are a special occasion and people would dress up, but I have seen tons of photos of long-past relatives, and the impression is the same: They dressed better.

Have you ever noticed that people dressed better in the past? Even in the summer, when it was scorching hot?

Why is this? 🧵
A mid-century family sitting on the porch steps. The man is wearing a camp collar shirt with a flapped pocket (collar and flap have a distinctive shape). he pairs them with fuller cut pants and leather shoes. Some people standing around. Photo is from the mid-century. Man has a knitted polo and full legged, pleated pants.

Mistral politely thanked me for the addition of Reunion and Martinique :) - but let's see what happens when others ask the same question.

To be fair, when I asked Mistral to correct the list, it did weed out the wrong states and included 21 correct ones.
whiteberg.bsky.social
It listed 11, all of them including "r". I'm not sure if this is the correct number.

My goto is to ask LLMs how many states have R in their name. They always fail. GPT 5 included Indiana, Illinois, and Texas in its list. It then asked me if I wanted an alphabetical highlighted map. Sure, why not.
A shitty map created by ChatGPT5. it purports to be US States with an R in their name, but it's wrong and dumb and worthless just like LLMs.

Mistral wrote that 21 states have "r" in their names - including Minnesota and Kentucky.

I've long viewed Taylor Swift as the Bruce Springsteen of her generation - a storyteller and a poet of a certain emotional landscape - and here John McWhorter is thinking along the same lines, and writing it a lot better than I could: www.nytimes.com/2025/08/07/o...

Excellent! Thanks for sharing.

I asked Mistral for introductions to geopolitics and it recommended me Aleksandr Dugin without mentioning his name, his extreme conservatism or his reprenhensive views on Russian imperialism and the attack on Ukraine.

Like recommending "Mein Kampf" as an introduction to nazism.

Exclusive: The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History removed references to President Trump’s two impeachments from an exhibit — an apparent change to its plans to update its collection of artifacts about the historic U.S. proceedings.

Har efterhånden fået lavet en ok liste med forskellige kunst- og kulturpersonligheder der har en konto her på platformen.

Håber nogle kan bruge listen. Enten som feed eller inspiration til at finde folk at følge. Der er helt sikkert flere derude.

Love the ending: "You will never be disappointed with the United States of America". Indeed, never.

Got lucky at the end - also got "Mulch" in there as a word, a flashback to the days of the comic book Groo.
