I may have the stories cracked, but I still struggle with a calendar. The paper's out tomorrow, not today. Week one of my new regime, and my brain is frazzled.....see what happens when Wednesday's the new Friday?

I'm not an Anthea Turner fan and I've not even read this beyond the headline......but I spent about 38 yrs fearing that I'd be found out. The last last five? In no longer matters at this point in my career (which is quite liberating)!

Staggeringly good, for many reasons. Meant to be a retirement treat, but I bottled it on retiring. Amid the indulgence of a lavish trip and exotic locations, walking the ground Hiroshima where the bomb hyper centre was will remain unforgettable. Like visiting Ann Frank's house - time stands still.

I've still got jet lag... that's my excuse, anyway.

This is going to disappoint, I'd imagine. As will the lack of Midland Mainline electrification and bus fares rising by 50% from the old £2 cap. Not good times for transport in SY, you might think....

When Sheffield has two - yes, two, local democracy reporters (paid for by you and I, via the BBC) is it down to Star staff to unearth this stuff? I could almost imagine LDRS reporters were otherwise occupied!

O Levels were pretty tough, too.... (ask Grok, if you need to!)

Always good to be ahead of everyone else with a story.....old fashioned attitude, but.... even after stalling for 2 days from SYP, we squeezed it out early! www.rotherhamadvertiser.co.uk/news/crime/t...

Not heard anything from you for what seems like three centuries, Roland! How's things in Sheff? My days may well be numbered - I was going to retire, but bottled it and asked for reduced hours, but all's silent from NW. Time will tell. Cheers!

I had one, xmas gift 1978, bought from Barnards, Pitt St, Barnsley. I chucked it after it had been in the loft for years - a mistake in hindsight - but the TV would not work on today's signals and was b+w, of course. Large block on the side (just visible here) for mains power. Happy times!

Picked up this fun little Sony tape deck/micro CRT combo on a whim

Sadly broken, but hopefully not for long

It's cute! 😍

Fantastic! But what became of Hitler's launch, i wonder? And the Lion. In the 70s there was a lion at a scrapyard in Klondyle, Barnsley (twixt Monk Bretton and Cudworth!) in the same era...

Who wouldn't? Possibly that fella who keeps slagging the product I work for.... but look, my skin's as thick as tissue paper, I can take the knocks. And anyway, the pub's open soon....

I suspect there's going to be a steep learning curve for many of the newly powerful Reform johnnies..... if they have the stomach for the job, that is. Over in Barnsley, our 'Reform' councillor parted company with the party some time ago and has gone quiet. Exceptionally quiet!

Does it need remaking? The traffic warden with the rifle and bandaged face has become something of an - and I hate the overused word - icon. We don't want him played by Brad Pitt.... (I'd go for Oliver Reed, mind you, but that may have its challenges)

And for the less sharp-eyed among you, the pic is Hoyland nick. How do I know? I took it while waiting for a couple of councillor chums to turn up, a little while ago. Still a photographic crutch for my stories, great to see others using it too!

April, and warmer than we expected...walked to Inglewood without a jacket! Very happy memories of that city!
