There were a lot of great episodes in the back half. The baseball one, the tribbles throwback one, the whole Odo ghost trial one, I liked the run up to Worfs wedding. But the one set in the “real world” was probably one of the best single Trek episodes ever.

Speaking of Nogs whole arc was very good. I went from kinda dreading Nog to to being ride or die pretty quick. Good stuff.

That said, if you don’t have Vic you don’t have the Nog PTSD episode, which I suppose made the whole thing worth it. The heist episode was fine mostly because Sisko gave it very “indulging my family’s imaginary friend” energy.

Last thing I’ll say is, speaking as a 3rd generation Italian American, Vic Fontaine was a very very odd choice and was not nearly as fun as the show seemed to think it was. I mean…at least get a guy who could sing the songs.

Make me king of DS9? Kira invites Dax, Bashir, Odo and Worf into the O’Brian polycule that was forming in season 4. Garek is adopted as their son.

As written Kira is a revolutionary who loves very deeply but has tragic taste in men. And that isn’t very satisfying.

Honestly the shows preoccupation with coupling kinda dragged the back half of the show down a bit. Like I feel like Kira/Odo didn’t really bring out the best of either character. Odo needed someone to be there for him in the end but I don’t think it needed to be Kira.

Making her kind of annoying didn’t help and using it to go back to Dax/Bashir at the last minute just felt like consolation fan service to me. Literally O’Brian had more chemistry with Bashir than Ezri did.

The Dax thing was a bad idea. I don’t envy the show for having to basically spin off a whole new main character while also having to land the plane on the whole show but obviously anything cool about getting a new Dax was left undercooked.

Worf didn’t really work out as well as I had hoped I’m sad to say. Doing Klingon politics again was ok, and I was liking the direction of “Wife Guy Worf” but then the end of season 6 happens and it’s like he’s whole arc stalls out. It’s mostly splash damage from the Dax thing.

Going to just start by expressing my disappointment that so much of the end of the show was tied up in the Pa Wraiths thing. Never really got on board with The Prophets and all that junk. They kept going back to that well trying to punch it up but it was the least interesting part of the show.
