Where are all the plant people on this app?

Here is my (sometimes painstaking) process for transplanting sprouts from the cold stratification mix. I am going to try putting them in something smaller than a four inch pot to start as I think the 4” pots are too big. Nobody has ever said 4” is too big before.

Philly police scanner did not disappoint tonight!

I used the cold stratification method of scarifying seeds, putting them in (reused) ziplock sandwich bags, one quarter cup each vermiculite and perlite, a little water so it’s wet but no standing water. Put them in the fridge for four to six weeks. Then on to the heat mat and grow lights.

Took a little break for a minute.
But look at the plants that are poppin!
Bluebonnets, smooth white penstemon, lemon mint, Turks cap, all going off getting their lives started.
The cool thing about natives is they are very root forward. Check out the roots on this guy (lemon mint)!

I built this 2’x4’ greenhouse to start plants outside and free up space in my garage. So far, so good. I focus mainly on native and adapted plants to conserve water and keep from introducing invasive to my yard.
