One of the highlights of the 2025 WhyAfrica Road Trip was discovering more about the Ngwenya Iron Ore mine in Eswatini. The Ngwenya mine is one of the oldest known mines in the world. In the modern era Anglo-American operated here from 1964 to 1977. Read more on WhyAfrica.

Giants Castle is a striking peak in the Central Drakensberg that rises to about 3315m above sea level. The numerous wetlands and slopes in the area feed some of the most important river systems in South Africa, including the Tugela River. Read more on WhyAfrica
