It's hard being a misunderstood genius.
Possibly. At this point in time PlayStation was gaining a reputation for being the grown-up option with the violent games, so maybe the name change was geared more towards parents picking out games for younger kids.

This was my favourite game of all time when I first played it. There was a sequel planned, but it ended up becoming the god-awful Kane & Lynch.
There's been a lot of talk at IO regarding a follow up, a lot of the team want to do it. They never seem to progress past the talking stage, though.

Did you ever start Goldfinger after? Or are you looking for an official game so you can play it on the Analogue?

I beat it a few years ago. I'm telling you lol. Although I haven't played the original for comparison, I did recognise one or two of your concerns from my playthrough of the remaster

Didn't Ridge Racer only have 12 cars per race compared to Daytona's 40?
Slight dips in framerate would be understandable

According to the advertising spiel of the digital games, many of the original challenges have been "improved or replaced completely". So it might not even be a thing anymore. Here's hoping lol

Is that part where you have to guide the tumbleweed through the spiky bushes while contending with fans (I think it was on the games third stage) any easier in this version?
That Pagie was the only item in the entire game that eluded me and stopped me getting 100%

Sounds like the Definitive edition would be the better way to play. Been a few years but I do remember it adding in variable options for aim assist, which helped massively on that mission where you're being chased by the armoured truck.

Unless it was different people who made the decision. Maybe the same ones who thought we'd be less violent if we watched the Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles 😂

Not played this one yet, I did enjoy the first. It was renamed "Gateway to Glimmer" over here because they thought our sensitive souls couldn't handle 'Rage' in a game name (despite a popular beat-em-up trilogy a few years before)

Hi Speed port is for Game Boy Player
Serial port 1 is for the modem for online play
Serial port 2 is (unofficially) to plug in the SD card attachment for Swiss/xeno modded Gamecube so you can play homebrew/modded games, or to "try before you buy", especially with Ninflated 6th-gen prices.

Started writing a reply to this but it ended up becoming a sermon on why cover arts aren't as good now

Game 3 of 2026 run, Spirit of Speed 1937.

Is this as bad as everyone says it is? Wait, what? There's 10 laps and I'm still on the first after 3½ minutes? Jaysus. Dangles just enough of a carrot to make you yearn for a half-decent vintage racer like this, and offers exactly nothing more.

If you've heard them talking about Fenrir in regard to the Saturn, that's a similar mod to the original machine. Both well worth having, although depending on your Dreamcast model number you could get "unofficial" discs to play these homebrew titles on.
February 8, 2026 at 5:41 PM
It's just a case of replacing the disc drive of an official Dreamcast with an SD slot, and adding firmware, as opposed to an emulation machine.
February 8, 2026 at 4:38 PM
Now is a brilliant time to own a (GDEMU) Dreamcast, as well as all the great official games on it, the homebrew scene is crazy. There's even some N64 titles being ported over.

Does the Sinden work with retro consoles (with Bluetooth adapters in the control ports) yet, or is it still limited to emulation?
