I totally get that. Although I suppose I'd caution some newer writers not to create characters such that're only enjoyable to them and not their audience. Not to say they should sacrifice creativity for accessibility, but maybe that nuanced characters may require inviting paths to understanding?

omg, ikr? I died when I realized how Abby got his name. And the "popcorn" scene! lol, I'm giggling just thinking about it.

It was also amazing (and hilarious) to see this beautiful, Pixar-like animation devolve into anime-exaggerated facial expressions.
