yup, and in sports science it's not even just that the practitioners are ahead, but they are ahead with a sled and pulling sports science forward with a rope. the best sports scientists are often working backwards from what's been standard practice in actual sports

Then seeing the sports science catch up and realize the importance of steady state training. Turns out, real world wisdom- based on experience and observation - is often years ahead of “science“ when it comes to fitness and nutrition. 2/2
