The Conference of Oil Producers (COP29) succeeded again. The purpose of COPs is to delay meaningful action on climate change so as to permit ongoing high levels of fossil fuel use. This is true even for so-called & PR-slick world leading nations eg. the UK Rosebank oil field & UK airport expansion!

If the UK Gov is genuinely serious about transitioning to clean energy, what possible justification is there for still allowing fossil fuel advertising & sponsorship, designed to achieve the opposite?

During energy crisis, oil co.s prioritised shareholder dividends etc over investments in green energy. If oil co.s can’t & won’t transform, govt's only option is to no longer support the pursuit of growth for the sector; it should design the tax regime accordingly. www.upliftuk.org/post/the-way...
