Minus 2 is pretty warm for this time of year, I thought, until I realized that America still uses Imperial....

No idea if Gates and Blair shared Epstein's sexual tastes, but they certainly shared the view that they were masters of the universe, that they run the planet, that their opinions are more important than those of the great unwashed.

So much fun!

What are they?
Sidewalk roombas?

We are looking at a 35% rate increase in Yukon to help pay for a massive increase in DIESEL generators, while it has been made illegal to install residential and industrial solar.
This is what happens when one combines sclerotic utilities with conservative politics.

Wait, what? Isn't the use of prison labour one of the things America is pissed off at China for, arguing it gives them a trade advantage?
Anywhere other developed countries that use prisoners for cheap labour like this?
Definitely not a thing here in Canada.
Slavery is illegal here....

That makes sense, however we are also trying to electrify our society- heat pumps over gas for buildings, EVs over ICE for personal transport.
There is thus an argument for encouraging (the right sort of) electricity use....

Why go to France?
I'm fairly certain that there is a Francophone community in Canada, some place called Quebec, I think, has lots of them. 😉
I think the French they speak in Quebec is Canadien too, unlike that spoken in France...

It's much cheaper in Mexico, or India than in Canada.

Holy shit, that's wild.
No family with an income of $85,000 can afford an INCREASE in health care premiums of $35,000/yr.
What must the premiums be already?
Across the border in Yukon, we don't have premiums at all, or co-pays. Our pharmacare and dental care systems are still underfunded though.

Jeepers, I never thought about it like that!

I am impressed by the outcome. Given the poor or absent campaign to educate Yukoners about the plebiscite, I didn't think it would garner so much support, let alone more support than the Yukon Party itself.
Will the first decision of the YP be to reject the will of the electorate?

They absolutely would have threatened to!
Where else would they have gotten high quality old growth?
And, so what if the giants logged less, maybe we'ed have had more artisanal operations making things with the wood, in BC.

Imagine if stumpage rates had been higher, high enough that Americans didn't complain we are subsidizing loggers.
Think how much money would have flowed into provincial coffers, think how few fights we'd have had with the Americans.
Think of how value added would all of a sudden made sense...

Any guesses who will be required to make these sacrifices?

In Yukon we reduced downtown municipal speed limits to 40km/hr, to reduce the number of people getting killed and injured by drivers.

I wonder how these trends compare to relative population increases.
And how housing affordability relates to immigration policy....

Safari and Chrome on my iphone and my macbook.
I keep my phone and lap[top fairly separate (no work, email or socials on my phone, no podcasts or audio books on my laptop).
