She looks a lot like our lovely Battersea girl, Juno who has been a wonderful dog after a rocky start in life.

Sally Rooney’s Intermezzo. Not at all what I was expecting, happily.

The sea is high again today, with a thrilling flush of wind. In the midst of winter you can feel the inventions of Spring. A sky of hot nude pearl until midday, crickets in sheltered places, and now the wind unpacking the great planes, ransacking the great planes…

Good afternoon Womble. I’m reading Philip Hoare’s bonkers and brilliant biography, William Blake and the Sea Monsters of Love. What a way to launch 2026!

Hale knew they meant to murder him before he had been in Brighton three hours.

Best of both worlds. Saffy and Juno sharing the sun puddle.

Tossed aside the bloody awful Before the Coffee Gets Cold and dived into the amazing Philip Hoare’s latest masterpiece, William Blake and the Sea Monsters of Love.

It’s back to Kaplan’s hefty Mark Twain biography for me.

I could almost forgive that if the writing wasn’t so bad. I mean Ian Fleming wasn’t exactly a feminist read but at least his plot and his style carried his books along.

Tried to read “The Global Bestseller,” Before the Coffee Gets Cold. Maybe it’s the translation or maybe it’s me, but I thought it was dreadful. Sorry to any fans out there. 😩

What happened to Carl Hiassen? You’d think Ron de Santis would be an easy target for him.

Always loved Wyndham’s books ever since I read them in my teens. I love his admiration of strong women that shows so clearly in his depiction of Phylis. Also Diana Brackley in Trouble With Lichen.

Good morning Womble, I’m a few chapters into Claire-Louise Bennett’s Big Kiss, Bye Bye.
