As the proud parent of two United States Marines, I’ve been informed of what I can and cannot share on social media and platforms like Signal. OPSEC (Operational Security) and PERSEC (Personal Security) are critical, and I take my responsibility to protect our troops and their mission seriously. 1/5
The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

We’ve entered an era of emboldened neoracism so, for Black History Month, I thought I would research important, but maybe lesser known, African Americans. 1/9

One of the first African American poets to gain national and international recognition was Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872–1906). 1/9

Back in 2000, I didn’t understand the Unilever acquisition of Ben & Jerry’s.

Ben & Jerry’s built its brand on social activism—climate change, racial justice, and human rights. Ben & Jerry’s ice cream was at the first protest I ever attended at the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant. 1/7

I met the rare Marin County Republican on my dog walk this morning. She warned me that her dog was not neutered. and told me she didn't neuter her dog because she doesn't trust Democrats and gestured killing a dog. I wished her a good walk and got out of there.

After every State of the Union, there's an opposition response. Can we normalize an opposition response to every White House press conference?

Robert Smalls (1839–1915) was an American Civil War hero. Why hasn't there been a movie about his exploits? Did I miss it? 1/12

Donald Trump doesn't know if it was the fault of the air traffic controller or the airplane or helicopter pilot. All he knows is that a black or hispanic person is to blame, or maybe a woman (who's probably a lesbian). And also Barack Obama and Joe Biden. They did this.

In case after case, the Supreme Court has consistently ruled that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has no authority to request assistance from local law enforcement from the state to the local level. This includes everything from manpower to the sharing of data. 1/16
