I just assumed that the olive temple was just a tourist trap, though, so I didn't think much of it. It was a time when Japan was seemingly obsessed with building replicas of foreign buildings and monuments everywhere -- even a whole town like the Huis ten Bosch.

I visited the island when I was a teenager, but I missed that temple (I recall having been told that the Kankakei aerial tram was down that day for maintenance). 🫤

It's known as the olive island, but it's also the sesame oil and soy sauce and somen noodles island.

Before the pandemic, Yamato Calvary Chapel actually had an English interpreter, in addition to a dedicated English-language service, thanks to hiring a Japanese-American associate pastor. Now apparently, it does not.

It is a Calvary Chapel, whose pastor is now preaching UR. It's big.
