You can learn anatomy, perspective, color theory, composition. You cannot *learn* to love your own work. You can still put the work in, and try to get excited about the next project, and the next.

My experience is: you’re probably going to always feel that way. The actual quality of one’s art versus one’s pride in one’s art are almost always misaligned. However: the best artists I know take that challenge to heart to always improve.

Every artist starts bad at anatomy- but learning it can be really fun. Perspective can be tricky but it’s mostly a set of rules that once you learn, you never forget.

Halfway through the movie I thought: haven’t I seen a lot of these same beats in Cronenberg’s The Fly? Agreed about Death Becomes Her.

the movie lost me when Mon Mothma started explaining the Death Star to Jyn. I was expecting “It’s called the Death Star-“ dramatic music sting, smash cut to the next scene. Instead she explains it in real time, and that’s when I realized George Lucas was actually an incredible storyteller.

My theory is you have to be so lacking in character traits to consider whiteness to be your “thing,” so yes, white supremacy primarily attracts those who have nothing going for them.

I think corporations used to be more willing to take risks on new things. If you release 12 movies this year, one of them might be a big hit, and we can get some sequels out of it, or better yet, merchandise. But in a world where you can buy Star Wars, why risk gambling on the new?
