I'm pretty certain there were plenty of vacant leadership positions in Finance at the city he could've applied for in the last few years. Aligns way better with what he thinks he's good at and pays a lot better.

I doubt he's actually qualified for those positions though.

Did he just not consider submitting clarifying questions to admin before the meeting so he might know what he's looking at cutting? Everyone else so far said they worked with admin on their amendments beforehand.

I think technically it's not even her first five minutes since this is the first round of speaking for an amendment. I'd think after this ammendment gets resolved they would each have their original two rounds of 5 minutes.

The way that the business-friendly contingent has been speaking today they'd probably threaten to pick up their parking lots and move them somewhere else if you suggested increasing the tax on them.

They probably shouldn't have voted for the motion and resulting report then.

The LIP was set aside around the time the residential road renewal program was adopted. It provides a more equitable service because everyone pays and road network treated as a whole, instead of only the wealthy neighborhoods being able to afford maintenance.

I've been to businesses on Dewdney 3 days a week after work all summer. I can think of a single time I've had to park even a full block away from my destination. I think every time I've gone to Superstore at the Golden Mile I've spent longer looking for parking and had to walk further to the door.

Unfortunately it seems like the Mayor is completely incapable of keeping these old men in line in these meetings. Froh was refreshing as deputy mayor when he was doing it.

It looks like a single delegation submitted over 300 pages themselves. I'm sure glad council can no longer use their questions to have a speaker finish what they brought to speak on.

With the posts Just Bins started pumping out after every council meeting, edited with very pointed soundbites, I wouldn't be surprised if they're getting them directly from Advance Regina since the messaging is identical. The same Advance Regina that these councillors were endorsed by.

They get their marching orders from Advance Regina. It makes perfect sense they want to cut any and all services but will fight tooth and nail to protect the poor businesses and will never touch a penny the mighty police ask for.

So the angry Facebook grandpas in their quest to lower the mill rate have successfully increased it? And didn't Bezo just grandstand about axing Out of Scope positions and now he votes to add two new ones?
March 19, 2025 at 9:34 PM
In fact they're doing exactly that right now. Posting strategic soundbites and cuts of the Council broadcast to get their base riled up against anyone who isn't getting their marching orders from Advance Regina.

So the first budget vote (I think?) from these three councillors is to not reduce taxes? I thought that they were champions of saving the poor taxpayers.

When was the last time RPS didn't get their full request in the budget? I can't recall ever seeing that happen.
