Sorry, but I'm more likely to patronize a business that made a stick figure drawing to promote their business than if they used AI art for the same thing. Can't afford an artist-drawn logo?? Draw your own! Doesn't have to be smooth and perfect! AI makes me want to avoid you.

underrated cool things about being an adult: I'll never have to sit and be bored pointlessly ever again unless I'm either being paid for something, or doing some kind of errand (eg. waiting in line for the DMV or something). (Arguably not "pointless" then.)

if you think breaking things your child is using because they're not paying attention to you and being instantly obedient. you are the asshole yep. how would you feel if you were playing on your phone, your spouse got mad because you didn't respond to them instantly, and smashed your phone?
June 6, 2025 at 10:33 AM
yes, if you are making jokes to your child about how they were an accident and you'd have been better off without having them because they're a lot of work and money, you are the asshole.

my god. so many people who are tangentially Christian without being at all religious really really believe in the idea that children are inherently bad creatures whose souls must be broken and crushed in order to not grow up to be criminals.

my other hot take: parents who are unaware of their own autism and/or adhd and who (for whatever reason) do not find ways to help themselves deal with their own challenges effectively, are not only more likely to abuse and harm their children, but are more likely to be nasty cruel people in general.
June 5, 2025 at 10:31 AM
my hot take for today: that our society views children as property that adults own and can do whatever they like to is inherently harmful to all children, even with adults who don't take full advantage of this power dynamic's enablement of whatever cruel or unreasonable thing they'd like to do.

"if you don't learn to be nice and let boys bully you, you'll never find a husband, you know!" Good!!! Are you fucking kidding me???

sometimes I wonder how obvious the queerness was when I was 8 years old that I was getting told I'd be a "spinster" already at that point. then I remember that I wanted to wear boy clothes and play outside all the time, hated pink and was obsessed with Queen Amidala (didn't realize why)

The fox news cultists now get defensive if someone makes a completely routine joke about prices going up. "It's been on the news, there's a reason, it's not because of Trump-" no one mentioned Trump, hon. Your mind went there on its own. Now why might that be? 🤔

Starting to think that bombarding people with content designed to make them ill-informed, angry, and antisocial for hours upon hours a day has been a real disaster for society and possibly not one we can come back from in our lifetimes

Just noticed that a medication organizer that I ordered for $2 is now $7 in the "buy it again" list. I'm... wow. Considering going to stock up on things I HAVE to have (my otc allergy med, cat food) before the price triples on them... 🫠

In the 1890s when my maternal great grandma was born, they didn't have vaccines yet. When I had meltdowns over sensory sensitivities as a small child, my mom compared me to her, and said that it was normal for the family.

seems like they are unaware that it costs upwards of 30k to have a baby in a hospital. 5k is nothing, you have not solved the cost of living not matching wages problem

props to my workplace that has renamed their usual "autism awareness month" to "autism acceptance month" this year!

the thing I hate most about that rfk quote is that autistic lives have value and worth and beauty and dignity whether they are able to do the things other people do or not. no one is defined by ability or lack thereof and to frame divergence as lack is monster stuff, utterly godless

wondering what places like disneyland or ren faire are like if you have a brain that appropriately filters the sensory info from crowds. that kind of thing looks interesting in pictures but in real life it feels like being waterboarded with a fire hose

don’t ever give up… you never know when you’ll see a white star twinkling and the beauty of it will smite your heart and hope will return to you and the thought will pierce you that in the end the Shadow is only a small and passing thing and there is light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach
