Attorneys working for DHS are filing Motions to Pretermit asylum applications pending with immigration court based on Asylum Cooperative Agreements with countries such as Uganda, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Ecuador. I have clients with no connection to these countries being deported there.

Yeah, Honduras has an annual cap of 400 or 450, so they may be maxed out. Not sure yet if Uganda has a cap but will figure that out soon.

Yeah, my office received several motions in the last few days, including one designating Uganda for a gay man from Ghana. This was done orally in court and I demanded a written motion which the judge granted.

They are going to broaden the scope of who can be arrested at *scheduled* removal proceedings court hearings beyond what they’ve been doing thus far, i.e., those in the US for less than 2 yrs. In Seattle there are seven judges with over 60k pending cases.

If the three judge panel rules in Trump‘s favor, en banc review by the ninth could be an option before appealing to Scotus, right?

They did not make a decision on the merits of the case. They simply issued to stay, meaning that they need to take a closer look at it and then they will issue a decision from which Trump will likely appeal to SCOTUS assuming he doesn’t get a favorable decision.
