I know the value of describing the law as neutrally as I can, and I've been called either a transphobe or a misogynist for just doing that. You can't avoid these attacks unless you jump 100% on one extreme side of this topic. I won't do that. The law is not 100% on either side. I'm not personally on an extreme end of either side. It's a trope to say this debate is toxic and that has been used to silence women in the past. But don't tell me this has been anything other than toxic. I oppose a dehumanising attempt to compile lists of "troons" and simultaneously got some extremists telling me I hate women and other extremists telling me I encouraged the transphobia that led to this. Some of these people are transphobic bigots and I'm not going to shy away from saying that after this disgusting behaviour. You can't convince me that "transphobia isn't real" while you're taking about "troons" "skin walking" and comparing every man with nail polish on to a fetishist. Yes, some people are sexists with extreme bigotry against women who assert their boundaries and their rights. But that doesn't mean that bigoted prejudice against those with trans identities is merely the assertion of boundaries. Not unless you think your boundaries include the right not to be offended or to dictate how other people dress, the right to draw up a database of 'troons' and the right to stereotype people you're disgusted by. So, revealing some of my personal views: I don't support any of this crap. If you want to use this to claim I'm transphobic or that I'm a misogynist, have at it. If that's your response to this, I couldn't care less what you think.
