Wartime progs were single sheet due to paper rationing. LU competed in northern divisions. The last ‘Complete Record’ carries match details, as does the wonderful ‘Soccer At War’. These are incredibly poignant artefacts. #lufc #mot

A few more Salvage posters….
October 1, 2025 at 5:45 PM
Pre WW2 progs are rare. A prime reason for this is that the govt encouraged collection of paper as part of the Salvage campaign, illustrated beautifully on posters like these displayed at the superb Eden Camp museum. We’ve a small number on Flickr #lufc

A full set of LU home progs for 1946-47. The FL returns post WW2. LU break Div1 records at the bottom! After paper rationing a decent prog returns from Oct after single sheets. A Celtic benefit for Eric Stephenson, of the Gurkha Rifles, killed in action. #lufc #mot

1947-48 started with a game versus Leicester City. Little did anyone know at the time that the 20 year old Leicester number 8, making (probably) his first visit to ER, would become the most influential man in our club’s history. 💛🤍💙

Despite the mixed review James went on to ‘star’ in the pivotal role of ‘Radio Announcer’ in Mark’s wonderful 1986 play ‘Hey! Luciani’.

From 9th May, running through to mid August, at Leeds Central Library, Voice Of The Fans promises to be a wonderful celebration of 60 years of fan-made media.
A great line up of accompanying events, details at the library events page,

Check out the stunning Festival of Britain programmes from the last two programmes in 1950-51. The Rapid Wien programme is fully signed by the whole of the Austrian team.

Leeds United News was launched in 1982. It was free and full of Leeds United News! It carried on for at least 50 issues. A better read than the programme imo.
Rarely pops up on eBay these days, but every now and then there’s a bargain bundle to be had….. #lufc #mot #alaw

Happy anniversary everyone 💙💛🤍
I wonder if the kid on the front of the Blades programme looked any happier earlier this week? 😢 #lufc #mot #alaw

At the end of our glorious 91-92 season, the editorial in Marching Altogether noted the role the crowd at ER had to play. It highlighted criticism of Strachan & no support for Speed.
We’ve always been hard to please!
It’s a big day MAKE THE RAFTERS RING!

Issues 11 & 12 of iconic Marching Altogether shared on LU Nostalgia.
And a shout out for charity furd.org who produced a wonderful comic strip about Albert, still available by contacting them. A must for every Leeds fan.

I’d like to recommend a new blog which has opened with an article or two about Gerry Francis (not the mulletted ex England captain). It’s a great read imo. Please subscribe 💙🤍💛 #lufc #mot

@charlieconnelly.bsky.social I realise I’m 25 years late, but I’ve just read London Fields. I doubt I would have enjoyed it as much 25 years ago as I just have. Some great chapters, the penultimate one about football in the pub is most prophetic. You really should do a follow up 😁

I’ve followed up ‘Fear & Loathing in La Liga’ with this more recent cracking offering from @simonkuper.bsky.social
‘Barca’ enhances the already excellent library of titles available about Spanish football. I’m hoping to live long enough to reread Simon’s previous award winning books . 🤞🙏

A European Cup game in 1992. So called ‘Battle of Britain’. Away fans banned at both legs, so a few of us were incognito armed only with a Wee Jimmy Krankie accent. The ticket said ‘Stuttgart / Leeds’ as the previous round was decided late by replay due to the German team cheating. #lufc #mot

I see on X a lot of Leeds love 💛🤍💙 for Ao Tanaka’s parents who managed to make it all the way to Derby on a cold dark night to support their son & our magnificent club. I hope they enjoy many more matches watching our fine team. Never miss a chance to watch a game live! @thesquareball.net #lufc #mot

From the Marshall Cavendish Book of Football, this wonderful collection of first division and international teams of the early 70s is a joy. Leeds on the cover, printed in Leeds, Super Leeds inside, even the Dog Botherers page is Leedsy! 💙🤍💛 A thing of beauty. #lufc #mot

There’s a whole book to be written about one game LU heroes. Stephen O’Halloran is my favourite though. Injured in the warm up of his only ‘appearance’ 🤦. I’m sure the Square Ball literati have covered these illustrious careers @thesquareball.net #lufc #mot

His only game for us. It was Gary Mac’s last game as manager, which no doubt didn’t help Mansour’s case for a proper contract. Played in more positions than games according to wiki 😂

A first league meeting with the Franchise. Would be nice to think indignities like this are a thing of the past, but no doubt the future of our wonderful club will find other ways of kicking us in the nuts! 💙🤍💛 #lufc #mot

A 3rd visit to Curzon Ashton, tho only seen them once! In 92 Caernarfon hosted Guiseley at Curzon’s old National Pk, having been chased out of Wales by their own FA. In 2008 a giant killing at the new Tameside Stadium. Last night, Stockport v Leeds in the u21 PL League Cup. #groundhopping #lufc #mot

Anyone visiting the ‘Dark Side’, find time to visit Bury Art Museum & Sculpture Centre. Currently showing Lowry’s iconic ‘Going to the Match’. Other footy items to see include a great set of photos from Leeds 77 SF at Hillsborough. Any older fans might recognise their fashion faux pas! #lufc #mot

I really wish I’d taken a decent camera to all my ground visits in the past. This is Belle Vue Park, Consett in January 2012. In my opinion the ground was one of the highlights of the Northern League, even in the depths of Winter. 🥶 #groundhopping #MyCemeteryEnd

Mention Colchester to ‘older’ Leeds fans & they’ll immediately think of that cup game at Layer Road. But in 2008 the U’s won at ER, in front of a crowd which isn’t as big as our current season ticket waiting list. Some Leeds line up 😱. Colchester had Maybury who played in the UCL for us. #lufc #mot
