Had such a blast writing about my dance-happy Baby Goblin for the #Halloweensie #kidlit contest this year, and glad to say the judges liked it too! Thanks to Susanna Hill and all the judges & prize donors.

Today was terrible for everyone I know and love, and for many others I don’t know but will proudly stand next to when the time comes. In the meantime, the Earth still hands out #SomethingBeautiful to help us get our breath back, if only for a moment.

One of the most fun things about having kids at Halloween is the excuse to trot out multiple costumes for different events. So far we’ve had a party, a Trunk or Treat and a costumed storytime. Tonight to hand out candy I’m planning to break out the 1840’s ballgown from my historical dance days.

Angry about current events, especially book bans and certain publications self-censoring? May I recommend some courage-building #kidlit My 6 year old and I love this one!

I threw my 6 year old a Mars themed birthday party with lots of rovers and a pin-the-rocket on the planet game.

Learning about the International Space Station through a free library program. My future astronaut is enthralled 🥰

Speaking of #ShareGoodNewsToo, if you’re looking for some kid-friendly #solarpunk #poetry, may I recommend “The City Sings Green” by Erica Silverman? Lots of hopeful ecological stories in verse with a paragraph of context to follow, and adorable illustration by Ginnie Hsu.

Little M called every snake, lizard, and turtle in this exhibit “tu-tull!” And it was the cutest thing ever (…at least, since her brother did similar a few years before).
