Wild isn’t it. A masterclass in crapping on your core, most enthusiastic, audience then doubling down on the nonsense. I’m thankfully that Firefox, and Chromium for that matter, are open source enough for viable forks without their respective asshattery to be available.

At least it’s still open source so we can benefit from forks that exclude all this LLM bollocks. Well, for now. The second they (inevitably) bring that crap into Thunderbird that’s being expunged from my devices.

Team up with a moderately known electronic music act for Simian Mobile Podcast!

I would absolutely subscribe to the Finite Dolphin Pen.

It's utter garbage. In holding on to iOS 18 for the foreseeable future. If they're still running iOS into the ground in a couple of years time I'll likely drift back to Android. I'm no fan of Google these days but at least I can tinker-around most of Android's annoyances.

but my photos surviving really depends on how much of a crap those that come after me give to carry it all from hard drive to hard drive (or whatever storage they're using by then). I guess it's all fleeting and transient, and the photo archive is more for me, and maybe our little guy, than anyone.

I do ponder longevity of digital archives. I'm optimistic that the humble jpg, and likely even heic, will be readable into the distant future (technological collapse notwithstanding),

But there's something that feels more philosophically off about it.. I need to clear the space and realistically I never actually look at the originals anyway.. but still..

There’s a decent chance the whole thing falls on its arse anyway.. maybe he’s holding out for the problem to “solve itself”.. which in his personal circumstances I could understand but would have been a hell of a hammer-blow for Cox to step away as well.

Couldn’t agree more. No Ince, no Monkey Cage.
December 13, 2025 at 5:59 PM
Totally. Why the legitimate real reasons to criticise them are ignored for imagined nonsense is beyond me. Valve aren’t paragons of virtue, there’s plenty enough to point at them for without needing to make stuff up

DEI, or otherwise known as “there are people other than white men in this game!” *clutches pearls*

And, for those that care about it, staggering work to bring so many Windows games to Linux.

Right? Who chases after a downgrade??
December 10, 2025 at 10:06 PM
That's exactly what an AI/robot who wants to be human would say!!

For real though it's such a worn-out trope. It's been done well in some cases, but I enjoy AI type constructs trying to understand humans more than one trying to *be* human. Pratchett and Baxter's Lobsang comes to mind for that.

Strawman!

It's more than we mustn't forget that publicly run trains were pretty crap. That privately run trains were *even worse* doesn't excuse this, or successive, governments from doing less than bare minimum again.

Bingo. Also their choice was to do this or effectively cease to exist. This is a survival move allowing them time to figure out their next move. WI have already announced some workarounds they will be fully supporting in order to continue to support trans women, for example.

Given the abomination that is iOS 26's liquid ass design I'm not surprised he's jumping ship.
