Not necessarily "cheating" if both sides do the same, but would detract from the intended ambiguity, IMO. Thematically, your soldiers wouldn't have perfect information about how many enemies are left in each squad as they move in and out of cover.

Have them write (and edit) more. Let them write on a topic, no word count, format, or restrictions. Then add those back in. What if you only had two pages? One page? Memory joggers on 5x8? What does principal A need vs. B? Have them explain their reasoning and provide feedback.

Also a crime to only win Oscars for Cinematography and Sound Design because of Return of the King shenanigans.
