I'm pleased to announce that Vacation Realities & Holiday Dreams will be my first Audiobook release! The amazingly talented Claire Coyle narrated! I'm super excited! This is the "retail audio sample." Think of it as a preview. It's short... you shoud check it out!

Great engagement from the co-host of a brilliant podcast.

I never know what to say on social media. Generally, I only post something if I feel it's important, or to announce something, and I usually feel like I'm wasting time or begging for attention when I post. With the state of the world, there more important facts or opinions than mine. Am I alone?

I'm afraid I've confirmed that The Philadelphia Inquirer ran the same "Heat Index" supplement that the Chicago Sun-Times did
Cover page of The Philadelphia Inquirer's "Heat Index" section, with a photo of a kid in a bathing suit and goggles underwater in a swimming pool. Summer Reading List for 2025 with various erroneous entries that look like AI hallucinations, as published in The Philadelphia Inquirer.

This was just posted by @tbretc.bsky.social on another platform. The Chicago Sun-Times obviously gets ChatGPT to write a ‘summer reads’ feature almost entirely made up of real authors but completely fake books. What are we coming to?

Work, work, work... This time in horror.

The bizarre, wild swings from the worlds I'm writing, the lives I'm creating... and the world, and the times, that we're living in.

Shifting from world to world—sci-fi, dystopian, or horror—I find that the world we all share is by far the most frightening to me.

Positivity is at a premium.

For me...

I can write poems at any time.

I can only write worthwhile poems when I'm sad.

How much exposure do you have to rural "good christian folks?"

My milage?

I'd say 1 in 4 would only be upset by any damage to their vehicle, and would proudly stand ten toes down in court suing the decesed shoplifter's (or protestor's) family for the money to repair their vehicle's damage.
witlesslackey.bsky.social
I've read similar Facebook comments on local news station's posts covering protests. No shortage of politically right leaning crazies who think the solution to ANYTHING they don't condone or agree with is vehiclular homicide. Absolutely no value placed on human life at all.

Reminds me of this eternal Ted Chiang banger-
Highlighted text form THE NEW YORKER

The task that generative A.I. has been most successful at is lowering our expectations, both of the things we read and of ourselves when we write
anything for others to read. It is a fundamentally dehumanizing technology because it treats us as less than what we are: creators and apprehenders of meaning. It reduces the amount of intention in the world.

On a scale of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to Avengers: Endgame... where does it sit?
witlesslackey.bsky.social
It's short... just under 15k words... but only 99 cents.

It was all new to me, writing in my own voice, telling my own story...

I'm glad it's already sold fairly well, here's hoping more people pick it up, and maybe even like it. 😉

Reposted, because of my appreciation.

MAD magazine's "The Mad Primer of Bigots, Extremists and Other Loose Ends" from 1969 holds up pretty well. Sadly. Art by Jack Davis.
