Yes exactly - but we also have the Lindow man (lovingly named Pete Marsh by the press at the time) found in the UK and executed in a number of ways. They hypothesized he was from the clergy (druid) and sacrificed during the earliest Roman invasions of Britain.

England is a bit problematic. The druids fled there very early and much of it's early history is dark and very sporadic formed by the verbal retelling of legends. Again, I wouldn't discount Caesar's observations. Now it's still common to burn effigies. Not convinced that didn't have darker origins.

yeah i fully agree England is a bit problematic. so is denmark at times. in general the entire history of Europe is a bit problematic and very complex, and at times very disgusting regarding Humanity.

"Humanity" has a knack for creative murder. In Europe a lot of the bog people were sacrifices, often *murdered* in multiple ways (symbolically).
As for burning that was older too. While early accounts of wicker men being questioned - druids were known to practice human sacrifice.

Oh yes. Loved to burn *witches* too. Clergy as a tool for Empire was historically more punitive to keep people in line, - just what they have in mind for us. Fun in the dungeon with thumb screws and pulleys.

the whole witch burning thing was actuall Denmarks fault in England. princess anne was to go to england, but a storm prevented that. so the king came to dk to get his princess when a girl in CPH said she called the storm by magic and then she was burned as a witch alive on the stake.

at the time england had no experience with witch burnings as they occurred in europe only. but the king saw this and got paranoid and hired this dude who then went on a rampage burning because it paid well. when the king found out he stopped witch burnings in england. grusome story really.

Sun worship was common in northern europe.
this is the sun chariot found in denmark. it was believed to pull the sun across the skies so humans could know when harvest and sowing of crops was due. seasons. many cultures have worshipped the sun. they should. as the sun is literally the god of Earth
