US policy abroad has been evil at least since Kissinger with no real change in policy, so it definitely gives "where do you think we are?" energy whenever people in the media talk to people who actually write the policy instead of people who disassemble it for American consumption.

Heavy Gear explicitly places it’s mechs as in-between Tanks & infantry, rather then the kings of the battlefield like Battletech or Lancer. They have the advantage of versatility, with the poster mechs having dozens of variants, and having been created through espionage of each other’s designs.

I know that the game relies on this being status quo, but I think the IoM would have died long ago if the setting wasn’t built around it.
