I wonder what the structural solution is. Because I can't imagine a functioning democracy that would call the ACA into question (save for "we should have socialized healthcare"). I also can't imagine not funding SNAP

I've heard France is considering proportional representation. Maybe we should too.

With UGA banning bikes on much of campus (as I understand it, since much of campus has no "roads" there is no longer a sanctioned way to, for example, ride a bike on north campus) I have also been thinking about transit in Athens. It seems like the city would benefit greatly from a transit identity.

I would love the long article with a linked YouTube short or similar that is easy to share!

2. The White House released a fact sheet Monday confirming it will declare gender-affirming care "not supported" by evidence in a new, pseudoscientific report— contradicting numerous peer-reviewed studies demonstrating positive outcomes and announcing investigations have begun. See here:

This is expensive, will not lower housing costs, add transit, or give much public space. There’s enough proposals around to do all of those things. There never seems to be enough money for those.

Before I knew The Stitch was a proposal or that infrastructure funding was limited, I thought burying highways was an obviously good idea. Then I paid rent for the first time. It’s wild that these politicians seemingly never had the experience of money being expensive.

That’s so frustrating. An apartment complex aimed at students in town? “We need housing for families!” A development suitable for families out of town? “We can’t build out there! Think of the traffic!” What do they want? All that remains is premium detached homes for students of rich parents.

Nothing will stop UGA from pushing enrollment, I doubt they care if their students are homeless.
Also, the number of car washes is truly remarkable. I can’t believe they permit new commercial developments when many of the existing units seem to have trouble with finding tenants.

On the one hand, building family oriented housing is important, but on the other, how mean spirited can one be that they decide to reject student housing categorically. Students did not chose to make a housing crisis. Never mind that more development relieves pressure on existing stock.

This will be devastating for Athens and for the entire country if it's not rescinded or blocked immediately.
