it doesn’t work that way anyway anymore. for most businesses (walmart, etc.) wages are only 10-15% (so small they aren’t even a line item in public reporting — its just lumped in operations costs). so at 10%, a 50% raise is only a 5% cost increase, so a net raise of 45%. people come out way ahead.
