I told a Ukrainian student of mine that we always have pierogi on Christmas Eve, so she showed up on Friday with a bag of frozen ones made fresh by her mom. So thoughtful (and delicious)!

“Mrs. Ruf, I had to buy you a new copy of Call Us What We Carry because I started annotating without even realizing I was writing all over your book!” It’s a great day when an 8th-grader reads/annotates poetry on their own for fun!
