Unfortunately, I don't think so for some of the perpetrators.

I agree. It's completely absurd that the shipwrecked crew can do anything to the ship and they certainly don't have reinforcements (even if they were the cartel).

I recommend the book to history bluffs or to people who want to know more about the first atrocity to be called a genocide. The book details many horrific actions by Turkish National Army members and Turkish rioters, so reader beware on that. (6/6)

Before, during, and after the fire the Turkish National Army would commit atrocities against the Christian minority populations of Smyrna and surrounding towns. One of the Christian minorities was the Armenians, hence the name “Armenian Genocide”. (5/6)

Rev. Jennings was the architect and an actor of the evacuation plan after the fire, he would be assisted by the British Navy, the Greek Navy and finally the American Navy. The vast majority of people were taken on Greek merchant ships that were commandeered. (4/6)

The highest command in the military in the region was Admiral Bristol, who was racist against Greeks and refused to order or plan an evacuation. The mainstream American journalists denied or downplayed the genocide with the NYT press additionally falsely taking credit for the evacuation. (3/6)

The fire was caused by the Turkish National Army, I suspected the Turks were angry that Smyrna represented the multi-cultural part of the Ottoman Empire. The American civilians were willing to support the Christian minorities but the military was more hesitant at first. (2/6)

I normally read one book at a time, I get less confused that way. Also, do the same for TV series and single player video games (less so).
