anyone's wondering why the suddenly burst in activity, it's because recently, we've had a role reversal. Instead of Cao urging Cai to do work, it's Cai who's pushing for Cao to do work

In order to highlight the retro feel in the ‘80s and ‘90s, the title page is designed in a retro, collage style. We hope its elements will allow everyone to recall the events in your memory :)
These are the title pages of the two volumes differentiated by its colors and the marked differences in the two’s heights.

![The printed signature cards are designed with the elements of the three times the Fu family moved houses. From the tongzilou which they stayed when they were young, to commodity housing, and to the hillview house, it serves as a record of the entire family’s growth as well as the family’s struggles through the years.
The content of the printed signatures is also chosen to showcase the characters’ growth, through three different quotes said in different ages of their lives with their different worldviews.
There is one collectible card for each of the two pairings. A depressing set of colors is used in Zhang Qingkai’s one, incorporating Kaido crabapples and a grave in memory of the bygone, difficult love in that time period. On the other hand, Yijie’r and Fu Kun’s card is designed with a refreshing liveliness of trivialities such as the older brother planning his little brother’s outfits.

With Fu Kun’s sketchbook as the main element, the artbook consists entirely of ‘Fu Kun’s art pieces’ that serves as a record of the people and events in their lives, as well as their growth and experiences. It is also how Fu Kun saw these past twenty-over years.
We have experimented many times with the design of the book. As the simplest threading method may easily damage the papers, an acrylic structure is added on the outside such that the binding process will not harm the inside pages.
The acrylic design of the hug in the pool depicts the reunion at the end of the book where they embraced each other with kisses after their fall into the lake. As the look of the pool matches well with the ripple-type acrylic, this merchandise is made.
We hope everyone can feel that they are truly living by our sides.

Wildhood Friends physical by One Bean Culture: Design Concepts (Part 1)

![The overall design concept revolves around the main characters, unfolding along their timeline. After getting the main illustration and confirming the direction to be along the lines of "retro, nostalgic, passage-of-time, day-in-the-life, etc.", we began to incorporate elements from the text.
The main illustration shows the growth and changes of the two, from childhood to adulthood, from spring and summer to autumn and winter. The coming-and-going-to-school routine of their younger years also hints at the wider plotline of them maturing and leaving the nest to find their own paths, before finally wandering their way back together, back home for their resolution, reunion, and happy ending.
The outer cover is coated with UV sand. It feels slightly rough to the touch, so that, much like the feel of stroking a mural on a wall, you can feel the changing of the times.
The title is designed based on brand label clothing tags. Selling clothes was the through-line of Fu Kun's journey to financial independence. The path from his first time setting up a roadside stall to opening his shop in Datong was also the transformation of a carefree child to someone carrying family responsibilities on his shoulders. In the original design, the cloth was pasted directly onto the cover, but as the tailoring was not precise enough, it was later changed to UV-sanding, stamping, and stitching coated with PET film to imitate the visual effect of a cloth tag. The real cloth tag will come as accompanying merch, which you can sew on your own clothes—it'll be like having an altered item from Fu Kun gege's clothing line :P
The back cover shows some snippets of their lives: the bicycle they rode to and from school, Fu Kun drawing for Fu Yijie, and their bunk beds.

![The color of the inner cover corresponds to the outer. It uses their longtime habit of leaving sticky notes for each other to display their lives and growth in dribs and drabs.
There’s the rabbit Fu Kun drew for Fu Yijie, the milk and puppy they grew up with, and a caring reminder to eat breakfast. The three book names on the little receipt—the ones Xia Fei left to Yijie—have been rendered in English for certain reasons.
The note on the cover has a UV sand coating, while the parts with tape are UV varnished to mimic the texture of the real thing. 510 thousand words in two volumes can be difficult to flip through, so the book used thread-sewn binding. This makes it easier to display the color pages inside as well.
The elements in the second volume includes the two’s career paths after growing up, the Martha store that the big brother almost opened, as well as some snapshots of the two’s lives.
