The final updates done, just before the Book launches was to update the look to match how we see the cast at the end of Season 5 of Lower Decks (although we kept the fake grey in Boimlers hair (he thinks it makes him look more distinguished) 6/7

Inspiration for the relfection of the ship was very clearly a nod to TMP, and Lower Decks had already done this before 5/7

Once that was done, we moved onto the rest of the gang, It should be noted we were working on this pre-Lower Decks S4, so it was before the Beard and before T'lyn, but i absolutly adored how @foodcu-be.bsky.social updated the look for the lower deckers all grown up. 4/7

Initially we worked on the 'Carpet Angels' image (which came from a joke at STLV, you had to be there) @foodcu-be.bsky.social came to me with these initial sketches showing potential uniforms and composition, we both felt the S1 look was better 3/7

So the Idea of Brad Boimler being Hood's final captain came about quite early for me, but I did not want to draw too much attention to that in WHETB, but given the chance to tell lighter stories i thought this would be a good intro to the Book, and there was only 1 person to ask to illustrate it 2/7
