I just finished rewatching Gridman, and yeah, the gay was definitely intentional. You don't plaster a LGBT poster and gay hearts on things regarding Rikka and Akane and not intend the lesbian subtext. On top of that, nothing later in the show contradicts this even remotely.

There's literally a yuri side story spinoff from girdman made by one of its creators. The gay was likely the intention, but they were strong armed not to follow through with it.

It seems some people simply assumed this was the case purely because the voice sounds stale and lifeless and not because of anything more concrete.

Good thing you can adjust the stadium settings to function like the first game. I'm not the biggest fan of the voting system, but at least the game gives you all the options necessary to make it fit your preferences. Shame they couldn't be changed in the demo.

The fact that mass media was comfortable enough to platform her is a red flag in it of itself. Any sufficiently left or genuinely marxist voice with a sizeable following and influence would've been suppressed rather than spotlighted.
