While I understand companies need to make money, I don't understand why companies offer worse licensing in comparison to their competitors.

Trying to break through the cracks and reach a wider audience is difficult, but by staying commited eventually you'll find your consumer base.

In Restless Nights, one of the enemies you encounter is displayed through the main menu. In order to achieve this effect I had to make the entire menu in a 3D environment and cast it onto the TV!

Indie game development is hard. Even when you've finished your game, and have managed to scrounge up playtesters, YOU still have to let people know your game exists.
