This week I created my Spoonflower shop, based on many suggestions to turn my sketchbook doodles into fabric patterns. Go check it out! www.spoonflower.com/en/fabric/20...

This morning I printed up some sample notecards made from a set of small paintings I made this month. Waiting for samples from the printer now. Hoping to have these available as sets of 8 in the near future. #bskyart #artist #contemporaryart #abstractartist #sciart #abstractpainting #painting

Now I use bold color palettes in large scale paintings to draw attention to the tiny details in nature the and abstraction that I love. P.8 #bskyart #artist #contemporaryart #abstractart #abstractartist #tinythings #nature #livingthings #biology #sciart #art #artist #inspiration #abstract

I draw inspiration from artists who combine organic imagery with bold color and patterns, such as Yellena James, Lauren Lewchuck, Lea Anderson, and Yayoi Kusama P.6 #bskyart #contemporaryart #abstractart #abstractartist #nature #livingthings #biology #sciart #art #artist #inspiration #abstract

I still make realistic drawings from nature, but what I wanted most was to combine drawing from observation and abstraction. P.5 #bskyart #artist #contemporaryart #abstractart #abstractartist #tinythings #nature #livingthings #biology #sciart #art #artist #inspiration #abstract

As an art student I studied drawing, but our classes were always focused on realistic drawing from life. P.4 #bskyart #artist #contemporaryart #abstractart #abstractartist #tinythings #nature #livingthings #biology #sciart #art #artist #inspiration #abstract

My fascination with tiny living things led to me studying microscopic creatures and macrophotography as hobbies. P.3 #bskyart #artist #contemporaryart #abstractart #abstractartist #tinythings #nature #livingthings #biology #sciart #art #artist #inspiration #abstract

I have always been inspired by the small details of living things. Details that regularly go unnoticed or unknown during our everyday lives. P.2 #bskyart #artist #contemporaryart #abstractart #abstractartist #tinythings #nature #livingthings #biology #sciart #art #artist #inspiration #abstract

I’ve been under the weather with migraines & POTS episodes, so I’ve not been in the studio for a bit. Instead of progress pics I thought I’d take this week to share how I came to paint these large radial paintings. P.1

We are in the thick of college tour season. Was excited to see the Cross Pollination exhibit in the Fenwick Library on our tour of George Mason University. #contemporaryart #artinthewild #crosspollination #elizabethhall

It’s been quiet here the past week or two because my migraines and dizzy spells have been holding me down, but I broke free this morning, at least for today. Worked on sketches and planning color last week, and started my next painting today. Doesn’t look like much yet, but any progress is progress!
