I was sweeping my back patio, stopped for a breather and noticed that the big maple tree was *squirming*.

Happy to see that my back yard is the wildlife refuge I’ve been striving for.

If picking up branches and logs along the Latah Trail all day with new and old friends and then going out for beers after is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

Nobody warns you that after you retire you might be innocently doing some gardening and suddenly people are buying you more beers than you’re ready to handle.

Last June, after I retired, I worked on recovering my health by working on my yard. I’m happy to see that the fruits of last year’s labor are coming to me now both in my garden and in myself.

Attempted to find some joy at the local fiber festival / spin-in. A man let his daughter fondle all the snacks with her bare hands and a woman across from me had a deep hacking cough and I had to peace out back home.

I guess I’m a germaphobe now?

Has anyone checked for excessive flatulence in the White House? Just a thought.

I made this the other night while procrastinating, mainly because I thought all the posts about the blackout were boring. It feels like there is momentum bringing people together!

It is really hard to watch people willfully tear down an infrastructure that allowed us to double lifespans, drastically reduce poverty, and become one of the richest countries in the world.

I think we need to acknowledge that government agencies have the capacity to create innovation and solve problems that do not have a positive monetary ROI but are beneficial to humanity and the environment we love and rely upon. And that should be enough reason to support their work.

Has anyone seen any analysis of the impacts of unemployment of mass numbers of public service employees? I haven’t seen anyone talking about the impact on everyone of increased competition for jobs.

As a professional anxiety sufferer, some tips for these times:

Go out in public. Connect with friends. See people’s faces IRL.

Move your body. Exercise consumes anxiety.

Go outside. Breathe fresh air. Put your face under the sun. See a tree.

The scrubbing of information and the installation of lackeys and bros makes me think more of Maoism and the ensuing horrors of the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution.

I just filled out the form for a library card for Washington State University’s library system. I spent an hour wandering the labyrinth, feeling the quiet and smelling the knowledge.

This is a coup. Your country is undergoing a hostile takeover. In any normal circumstance, a private citizen seizing access and control of government databases would be considered an act of terrorism and he and his goons would be met with force.
