Criminal cases involving Fort Bend County Judge KP George and Robbie Gail Charette, a Washington County politician, could be affected by Senate Bill 987. Under a court ruling from last year, prosecutors must seek permission from the Texas Ethics Commission before filing criminal charges against elected officials and other politicians for certain ethics law violations. The proposed Texas law would change that.
