On the contrary, it is important to recognise & celebrate the diversity in our heritage.
We are all to some degree the product of such diversity & it’s important to engage with it.
You may find this interesting. Enjoy.

Consent & a willingness to work towards resolution is a pre-condition of mediation.
It’s a voluntary, consensual process.
So, they may be reluctant or hostile but they must be willing to work towards a solution.
Only then can the mediator be of assistance.
If they aren’t it may not work.

Another helpful tool in dispute resolution is to remain respectful.
Try to address the point rather than engaging in personal abuse.

Hopefully.
The problem remains that while paramilitarism has subsided the zealots on all sides retain an unquenchable thirst for provocation & goading each other.
There has been almost no progress in reconciliation since the GFA in 1998.
Things are actually worse.

That’s one side of it.
There are others.
Republican murders of innocent civilians to take but one example.
Being from Enniskillen makes me a bit touchy on that issue.

It is not the dispute resolver who is required to be conciliatory, but the parties.
There’s little indication of a spirit of conciliation among them or clear intention to resolve the conflict, specifically by addressing past wrongdoing.
Quite the opposite.
SF in particular, although others too.

Thank you.
Happy to help.
Reality checking is one of the most important elements of any mediation.

Dream on!
There is not the remotest possibility of Irish unity in the next 10 years despite all the self deluding Shinner fantasising.
