I understand. I wanted to stress that it took great courage for her to accept that invitation in the first place since most art critics at that time had every expectation that Impressionism would be a bust (little did they know!).

Yes, I include the stories in the ALT section of my posts since Bluesky is a bit skimpy on their post allowance :) I've tried to feature pieces that have been recovered, or at least on view somewhere, for this month's theme. Morisot's paintings are wonderful.

This is Stolen Art because it was stolen from the Musée Marmottan in 1985 in a daytime robbery. Morisot was the only woman to exhibit with the Impressionists in their first independent exhibition. She accepted Degas' invitation to join the group, even though other artists advised her not to do so.
