The upper Texas coast has a truly bizarre history with this particular name list.

Alicia is one of my earliest memories, and spawned my lifelong fascination with weather. I remember listening to coverage on KRLD radio in Dallas the night of landfall. 4/4

If that sounded familiar, it's because Allison was retired due to extensive impacts to the Houston area. However, that was the third use of Allison in 2001. Landfall occurred near Galveston and, after executing a loop over east Texas, the remains of Allison brought a lot of rain to Houston. 3/

The first use of Allison was for a tropical storm that made landfall southwest of Galveston in 1989. Allison was a prolific rainmaker for parts of Texas and Louisiana. The storm executed a loop over eastern Texas, exacerbating the rain. 2/
