It's based on this spectrogram from the dead Titans. We think the "arms" are the trails left by the eight Stargoids. The pink is the colour it comes out in Audacity.

Also...

Incidentally, I think the colours used in creating Elite are utterly magical. This is a closeup of a healing Titan.

We have already prepared the ground. There are no invasion systems, and just two Thargoid controlled systems left.

Now ten cleared, and good progress on five of the remaining six. We're going to do this! #EliteDangerous
