John P. (Jack) Vetter (1920-2009), was a photographer, teacher and
author. Jack spent most of
his career at West Penn Hospital where he ran its nationally renowned photography department. He specialized in photomicroscopy.

West Penn Hospital Wax treatment room 1944. Wax therapy, also known as paraffin therapy, was a common treatment for burns in the 1940s. The treatment involved dipping the affected area in melted paraffin wax, allowing the wax to cool and harden, and then removing the wax.
