Being proactive now about what you can do to prepare for the future can be empowering. It reminds you how much control you still do have over your own life. If something bad happens and you are prepared for it, your mental resiliency will be much better because you ARE prepared for it. Part of the point of all this *EXPLICITLY* is to WEAR US DOWN. People that are worn down are less likely to stand up and fight back for what’s right. Knowing this, prioritizing caring for yourself and your basic mental, emotional and physical needs IS a way to push back. If I worry now that I am at risk of losing my job- are there bills (like car insurance) I can pay ahead for the year? So that in the event my job is lost, it’s one less bill you or your partner or family have to worry about covering? If you are worried about potentially losing your job- are there car repairs that need to happen NOW before tariffs make car related purchases more expensive? If you are worried about potentially losing your job- are there any purchases you can make for your household that would potentially lower your overall cost of living? Are there kitchen appliances you can get that will help bring down your grocery bill such as breadmakers, juicers, plant based milk makers, food processors etc. (Ex: Will you want to be spending $5-$7 on a carton of oatmilk or a few dollars on a container of oats and make your own oatmilk?) If I worry that I might lose my job- will I appreciate having access to solar power in my home to keep my electric bill down and maintain a level of normalcy in my home by still having access to electronics lights etc. If I worry about losing my job and things get more expensive- What would I want to ALREADY have on hand to make life easier? It helps greatly if you know what other things you can do other than scrolling and paralyzing yourself about the future. If you want to move abroad... Do you need to practice another language? Do you need to earn an internationally recognized certificate to be eligible for work abroad? Do you have paperwork you need to get in order? If you are worried about prices going up for food and further deregulation in the animal agriculture industry... Do you need to seek out what simple dishes you can make from scratch? Do you need to practice making more foods from scratch? Do you need to practice making more *ACTUALLY TASTY* vegetarian meals so it’s easier for you to avoid meat more often as listeria and other outbreaks become more common as a result of animal agriculture deregulation? If you want to protect your privacy online... Do you need to research and swap to a more privacy focused browser? Do you need to acquire/learn how to use a VPN? Do you need to make the switch to more secure forms of communication like email and SMS? Do you need to download a password protector and upload all your logins?
