The book is "Real Japanese Cooking." I have about half of it marked with post-its already. And we already have at least 6 VERY good Japanese cookbooks in the house. THAT's how good this cookbook is.

My fave Japanese food writer, Makiko Ito, has published an amazing new cookbook. And, omg, she has a recipe for making "ume paste" out of rhubarb, which she says "works pretty well" as a substitute. You can bet we will 100% be making that next year during rhubarb season!

Also, having grown up a POOR white kid, what i can certainly smell from here is the middle/upper-class privilege. I was *so* afraid of smelling. "You may be poor, but you still have water", &c.
