I am so curious about steeking.

I imagine it's hard to keep up with all the genius things you've gone.

Picking on Black women who had to claw their way through NYC machine politics to get to their positions is just not going to work out for old white senile fascists. That's all I will say on that.

I'm no fan of prosecutors, God knows. But that chucklehead really picked the wrong one. Tish James is going to fry his ass.

Me checking on our raisins like
Boimler from "Star Trek: Lower Decks" testing a raisin on his family's raisin farm. Lotta scowling going on.

I've been playing "Night in the Woods", and if this game is going to re-open the trauma of being a twenty-something college washout stuck living at home in a tiny town in rural nowhere, i think it's also obligated to fucking heal it

Haha, maybe i should put a tagline on the labels on our bottles — "Numbing the horrors since 2014."

Ha 😕

Anyway. All this stuff helps keep me going right now. It's a nice hobby to do with my spouse. I can use some things from my own garden. I take walks in my neighborhood and forage stuff no one else cares about. I feel competent knowing how all of this works? And we share stuff with friends.

Wow, okay. No, that *wasn't* the last thing, because we also made a new batch of...

Bitters:
• Cherry bitters — This used up some cherries from the freezer and also needed cherry bark, which meant a trip to Tenzing Momo — ALWAYS A DELIGHT

And lastly (for now)...

Raisins — I know someone with a (mostly decorative) grape arbor that puts out a large amount of white, seeded grapes. We need some raisins for the apple wine. So since it won't matter for the wine that the raisins have seeds, i'm trying to dehydrate these grapes. 🤞

Liqueurs (cont'd.):
• Elderflower Blush — A St-Germain copycat liqueur. Been holding onto dried elderflowers since spring to try this, because it also requires pears, which we get in abundance from our produce box every fall/winter. Now to find a passionfruit!

In the autumn when our produce share starts giving us pears again we'll attempt this "kinda like St. Germain" liqueur recipe i found.

Liqueurs:
• Cherry bounce (maybe) — Depends on whether we have enough cherries left in the freezer. But Andy really likes this as a holiday treat.
• Blueberry liqueur — The one that started us down this path over a decade ago! We make a batch every year.

I was writing this thread while spouse was playing Silksong, but then he beat the boss he'd been fighting and i packed up to go to bed, so i'll finish today.

They're usually used to make apple sauce, and i really should try that some day!

I just really hate to see fruit go to waste. And for some folks i'm guessing that having someone else come to pick it will save them a lot of cleanup work, because i just see apples rotting where they fall. Can't be pleasant to be cleaning up semi-rotted fruit.

Thank goodness for you being in the right place to share that.

My mom and her mom each had at least one miscarriage. I had low interest in having kids in the first place, but seeing that possibility on the horizon definitely weighted the decision.

Oh. ❤️ That second one. Wow. 😭

We made our syrup with vanilla and cherry pit extracts. Spouse is VERY intrigued by it and thinking about what else it could be used for.
