I might be in the minority here, but part of me loves moving body parts. I know it's against conventional wisdom, but there's something about writing "he threw a dismissive hand over his shoulder" that makes me smile. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Guys, fantasy is hard. I'm at almost 110,000 words and still have plenty of story to go. The final push is lowkey killing me 😂 So much respect for the pros!

As a writer, it is usually better to entertain and then offer a thread of art rather than to be artistic with only a thread of entertainment.
People won't be transformed by a story that hasn't first transported them.

This stems from a throwaway line in a recent post, but while reading Story Genius by @lisacron.bsky.social , I'm starting to use it to good effect.
Could ur characters be painting a house and still hold readers' attention? If not, u might need a more dynamic cast.

Just finished reading 'Ship of Magic' by Robin Hobb for the first time. Man, today's #fantasy could learn a thing or two.
Interweaving arcs, foils, and parallels are brilliant; I'd read 50k words of these people washing windows just to see their different approaches. Bravo👏👏
