I love Brian Bilston's Poetry & totally agree with him about the Daily Heil...
brianbilston.bsky.social
Today’s poem is called ‘How Much I Dislike the Daily Mail’.
How Much I Dislike the Daily Mail

I would rather
eat Quavers that are six weeks stale,
blow dry the man bun of Gareth Bale,
listen to the songs of Jimmy Nail,
than read one page of the Daily Mail.

If I was bored
in a waiting room in Perivale,
on a twelve-hour trip on Network Rail,
halfway through a circumnavigational sail,
I would not read the Daily Mail.

I would happily read
the autobiography of Dan Quayle,
1001 Things You Can Do With Kale,
selected scripts from Emmerdale,
if it meant I didn’t have to read the Daily Mail.

Far better to
stand outside in a storm of hail,
scratch a blackboard with a fingernail,
be swallowed by a humpback whale,
than have to read the Daily Mail.

If I was blind
and it was the only thing in Braille,
I still would not read the Daily Mail.

It's beyond time that politicians were banned from having 'second' (3rd, 4th, 6th) jobs.
They get paid a generous salary for a 'full-time' post. That should mean full-time work.

Exceptions for medical doctors to maintain their training could be made obvs.

That depends on how big the poll was & who organised it.
56% seems incredibly low to me too, but if they only asked Torygraph readers....🤷‍♀️

I haven't followed it much on the news it's too heart-breaking.
Any other nation doing this the Westminster Government would be up in arms.
It's every sort of wrong and Totally inhumane.

I was quite surprised, given the amount of negative press that would have you believe that this government is the worst we’ve had yet.

I’ll put the link in the next post but given we had a complete shit show with the Tories, this is astonishing. Do reshare or bookmark the link, it’s handy.
Under the last Tory Govt, elected in 2019, of 42 Manifesto Pledges, only
2 were delivered in 5 years.
Under the current Labour Govt, elected in 2024, of 83 Manifesto Pledges, 57 are delivered (18), on track (19), or in process (20).
In 1 year.

That sounds really good.
It's amazing how some wild animals manage to adapt to and make the most of us humans.

Killing the disabled, the jobless & privatising the NHS I suppose.
She's all heart.🙄

There are no right or wrongs in this. It's how you feel.
It's great that you have such a Pop shaped space in your heart x

I was in the first year that had student loans. So no tuition fees to deal with, but at the time it felt awful.
If things had gone as planned - probably well worth it. They didn't, I became ill & I've not managed to repay my loan.

Today's Poll: Was a University education worth it financially? Graduates do you FEEL your earnings/wealth is higher (after student loan repayments) as you went to Uni than if you hadn't.

Morning.
I've never seen a fox on the street before, though they did like sleeping (in the middle of the day) in the back garden of a friends house.
Growing up in Somerset we'd see the young cubs playing in the field around dusk - that was really lovely😊

ME/CFS is a devastating condition that has long been denied, dismissed, psychologised and underdiagnosed. Research is at last starting to catch up with it, with glimmers of hope for those who have been left untreated for so long.
