I read everything I could get my hands on. Probably different where you live and go to school. And lots of things, like your upbringing.
Nevertheless I will need to complain to that library. Wonder if the librarians who worked there in the late 70s to early 90s are still there 🤣😆?#ukteenchat

Noone nudged me in their direction. Maybe it depends on who you grow up around. My parents were educated musicians but they didn't know about teen books. And the librarian never directed me. I feel like I missed out now - going to complain to my mum

Yes but the original fairytale were darker. I remember reading about some of them and discussing it with others. I decided I liked mine tame and comforting better 🤣#ukteenchat

To be fair I'm only a few years older than you, and so probably same for you, there wasn't anything to read when you moved on from Enid & Roald books back then. So we had to hunt out adult books. I HAD to read & I read a lot. So it was inevitable I'd say @finlaysonpalmer.bsky.social #ukteenchat

Excellent - fairytales for adults - why should kids have all the fun? After all they were originally told to all ages I think & were a lot darker than the ones we give our children. #ukteenchat

For many reasons, I think historical type settings are brilliant when writing fantasy. No mobile phones or internet being the best thing. They are such adventure killers. #ukteenchat

I put things like SHOW IT or MAKE IT BETTER - and highlight them. I'm more like a sergeant major with myself it seems 😆 Maybe I should try a nice calm chat with myself instead . Thanks for the idea 😁💡#ukteenchat

We're all different and that's why I dislike it when people give advice that suggests you can only do it in one way.
I have to admit I hated editing but as I've come to understand more how to do it, I've started to enjoy. But not more than a 1st draft 🤣😜 #ukteenchat
