OUTSIDE THE NFL: The Eagles are showing that their successful season is largely due to lucky plays and luck period as they barely beat the Bills by a point yesterday. Their offense has been an up and down affair all season. With stronger teams and better defenses, it will be hard for a SB repeat
Eagles offense in the second half:

◽️ 0 points
◽️ 0 completions
◽️ 16 total yards

Still won the game 😅
December 29, 2025 at 7:00 PM
OUTSIDE THE NFL: The New England Patriots won the AFC East yesterday thanks to a Bills loss. Even if the Patriots end up not advancing farther in the playoffs, this has been a very effective rebuild year for the Patriots. The question will be what will Vrabel be able to do in his year 2 there?
Drake Maye is entering the second half vs. the Jets with four touchdowns already 😳

MVP? 👀
December 29, 2025 at 6:56 PM
OUTSIDE THE NFL: The Steelers failed to beat the Browns and win the AFC North thus ensuring the Week 18 match up against the Ravens will be for the Division and a playoff berth. It strikes me that Mike Tomlin should do the honorable thing and move on after this season. His explanations are excuses.
The NFL will have two winner-take-all matchups in Week 18 for the final two playoff spots 🍿

◽️ AFC North: Ravens at Steelers
◽️ NFC South: Panthers at Buccaneers
December 29, 2025 at 6:53 PM
OUTSIDE THE NFL: In a year where the Rams and Seahawks have dominated the NFC, the 49ers have been a surprise contender despite their by now usual injuries to a host of playmakers on both offense and defense. They played their best offensive game last night against the Bears.
Brock Purdy made his only mistake on his first pass on Sunday night. Then, he was just about perfect on his way to a five-touchdown performance.

He has the 49ers in position to claim the NFC’s No. 1 seed and the West title.
December 29, 2025 at 6:42 PM
OUTSIDE THE NFL: The Bills nearly pulled off a comeback win on Sunday as the Eagles barely eked out a victory by one point over Buffalo.
The Bills chose to go for two at the end instead of trying for one point and going for overtime. Bad move.
Buffalo cant afford bad moves if they want a SB berth.
The Bills know that the time for ironing things out is increasingly slim.

For them to get to the Super Bowl for the first time since the current regime took hold, they’ll likely need to win three straight on the road.

OUTSIDE THE NFL: The Steelers are a team not understood by pundits and hosts. They thought the Steelers were dead because they beaten by the Bills one of the better teams in the AFC. The Steelers managed to hold on to yet another victory beating the Lions. A lot of life remains in this team.
Not even a month ago, the Steelers had lost five of seven games and fans were chanting to “Fire Tomlin.”

Now, when you turn on sports talk radio or the network TV, they’re talking about how the Steelers could be a dangerous team in the playoffs.
December 22, 2025 at 7:51 PM
OUTSIDE THE NFL: It was called the Game of the Year. It wasn't. The Chicago/ Green Bay game was a better contender. It was however an outstanding match up and a terrific game. Seahawks 2 point conversion at the end in OT was anticlimactic really because a previous 2 point play was the pivot.
There is no love lost between the Seahawks and their rival Rams.

Seattle didn't take kindly to Los Angeles' taunting in the fourth quarter of Thursday night's matchup.

In the end, the Seahawks got the last laugh.
December 22, 2025 at 7:41 PM
OUTSIDE THE NFL: The Chicago Bears OT win over their rival of several decades the Green Bay Packers this past Saturday has cemented what seems to be a turnaround motif in the NFL: The Bears, The Patriots even the Panthers have turned into contenders within a season.
The Bears could be a factor.
December 22, 2025 at 7:31 PM
OUTSIDE THE NFL: The Patriots have made it back to the playoffs in a rebuilding year.
Essentially what Vrabel and his staff have done is maximize the personnel he has on this team.
There aren't a bunch of stars
Not even a bunch of playmakers
But this squad is winning games week after week.
Mike Vrabel inherited a four-win team. The New England Patriots were a mess.

So, you’d think a playoff berth and a 12-3 record would elicit some well-deserved partying.

Instead, the scene Sunday night felt like business as usual.
December 22, 2025 at 7:23 PM
OUTSIDE THE NFL: Yes, the Jaguars beat the Broncos by 14 points yesterday. No, I dont view them as a legit contender. The Jaguars are what I call a good bad team, a team that is fundamentally bad but playing well. The AFC is wide open this year and that's why Jacksonville is now getting attention
What happened Sunday was a loud and clear statement that the Jaguars are a legitimate contender.

Their 34-20 victory over the Broncos kept them in the race for the division crown.

OUTSIDE THE NFL: The Packers not only lost to Denver but DB Micah Parsons as well. The Packers problems us that they are losing playmakers as they try to make a playoff run. That doesn't bode well.
The Packers also lost the game, 34-26, and their hold on first place in the NFC North.

And LaFleur, who has coached more aggressively as of late, lost a golden opportunity to quiet the noise surrounding his status.

A surreal Sunday wobbled the Packers — and raised the stakes for Matt LaFleur

December 15, 2025 at 8:34 PM
OUTSIDE THE NFL: The Bills beat the Patriots yesterday to avenge an earlier loss in the season. With the Chiefs numerically and officially out of the playoffs, it is now time for the Bills to make their move toward the Super Bowl. Whether that happens, time will only say.
The quarterback's status will be among the many questions facing this team as it enters uncharted waters in the Mahomes era.

For starters, the Kansas City Chiefs are no longer the team to beat in the AFC, or even the AFC West.

Plus, the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams inched a little closer to earning their respective conference’s No. 1 seeds.

December 15, 2025 at 8:30 PM
OUTSIDE THE NFL: The Chiefs will not go to the playoffs this year for the first time in years. This team mired mostly in mediocrity this season will finally cease taking up space in the AFC playoffs and the Super Bowl. Finally, we will get a real playoff slate this year in the AFC.
Patrick Mahomes is looking at roughly eight to 12 months of recovery, which will put his availability at the start of the 2026 season in jeopardy.

OUTSIDE THE NFL: I have postulated that the Chiefs collapse really began in last season's Super Bowl and has extended into this season. Their playmakers like Kelce arent always able to play. Their offense can get points but not wins. The Big Red Machine as I call them is now The Big Dead Machine.
With tonight's loss, the Chiefs only have a 16% chance to make the playoffs.

Is this the end of Kansas City's postseason streak.
December 8, 2025 at 8:04 PM
OUTSIDE THE NFL: The Indianapolis Colts dream season is turning into a nightmare. Tough losses to Pittsburgh, Kansas City and now Jacksonville along with the loss of QB Daniel Jones for the season have turned the Colts from an object of envy to one of pity.
Mark this day in Colts history — one of the worst in recent memory. Dec. 7, 2025, was the day another Colts season likely came to an end in Duval County.
