Humans and technology live in a hybridized relationship, without clear boundaries between one another, as a shared entity. Technology is embedded in the human experience, and vice versa.

En términos darwinianos, un barco mal diseñado se hunde y aparecerá un diseño más eficiente. El mar, no el humano, “diseña” al barco en su evolución. Así, los resultados tecnológicos no están totalmente controlados por diseñadores humanos.

En términos darwinianos, un barco mal diseñado se hunde y aparecerá un diseño más eficiente. El mar, no el humano, “diseña” al barco en su evolución. Así, los resultados tecnológicos no están totalmente controlados por diseñadores humanos.
In Darwinian terms, a poorly designed boat will sink and be replaced with a more efficient and effective design. The sea, rather than a human, is designing the boat throughout its evolution. Consequently, technological outcomes are not fully controlled by a human designer.

In Darwinian terms, a poorly designed boat will sink and be replaced with a more efficient and effective design. The sea, rather than a human, is designing the boat throughout its evolution. Consequently, technological outcomes are not fully controlled by a human designer.

Ver a alguien inmerso en su pensamiento me dio la paz que buscaba desde que salí del departamento. Observar a alguien sin ansias de distracción me dio consuelo.
Seeing someone in thought gave me the sense of peace I had been looking for since I walked out of the apartment. Observing someone not craving distraction gave me solace.

An employee came out for his break. He looked like someone who was used to hard work. He took a pack of tobacco and rolled a cigarette with the elegant automaticity of a smoker. He spent the next few minutes there, squinting through the smoke. Looking around. Deep in thought. Content.

An employee came out for his break. He looked like someone who was used to hard work. He took a pack of tobacco and rolled a cigarette with the elegant automaticity of a smoker. He spent the next few minutes there, squinting through the smoke. Looking around. Deep in thought. Content.

De repente escuché una cacofonía: dos señoras de mediana edad en el banco frente a mí scrolleaban videos de 10 segundos con una mirada vacía: sin placer ni ni disgusto. ¿Cuándo habrán pestañeado por última vez?

Al rato, un rider apoyó la bici en el banco, se sacó la mochila y se limpió el sudor de la frente con la remera. Le di una sonrisa empática que no fue correspondido. Algo avergonzado por el intento fallido de conexión, continué con mi lectura.

Caminé unas cuadras y llegué a una calle con bancos protegidos por la sombra de los árboles. Fresco, con suficientes peatones para entretenerme, y pocos coches para molestarme. Decidí sentarme y tomarme un respiro.

Caminé unas cuadras y llegué a una calle con bancos protegidos por la sombra de los árboles. Fresco, con suficientes peatones para entretenerme, y pocos coches para molestarme. Decidí sentarme y tomarme un respiro.
I walked a few blocks and reached a street aligned with benches sheltered by trees. It was cool, it had enough foot traffic to keep me entertained, and not enough car traffic to annoy me. It was a good spot so I took a seat.

I walked a few blocks and reached a street aligned with benches sheltered by trees. It was cool, it had enough foot traffic to keep me entertained, and not enough car traffic to annoy me. It was a good spot so I took a seat.

Una muralla de veinteañeros vistiendo ojotas y con ice lattes en una mano y mirando el teléfono que sostenían en la otra, venía hacia mí. Al llegar, ninguno se corrió. Yo tampoco.
A wall of flip-flopped twenty-somethings, with iced lattes in one hand, staring at their phones in the other, was walking in my direction. When I reached them, none of them moved to the side. Neither did I.

Vivo en un barrio donde si esquivara a cada persona tomándose una foto frente a un monumento, llegaría tarde a todos lados, así que abro paso entre la gente aunque sea algo brusco. Yo me digo a mi mismo que les estoy dando una experiencia local genuina.

Vivo en un barrio donde si esquivara a cada persona tomándose una foto frente a un monumento, llegaría tarde a todos lados, así que abro paso entre la gente aunque sea algo brusco. Yo me digo a mi mismo que les estoy dando una experiencia local genuina.
I live in a neighborhood where, if I walked around every visitor taking a picture, I'd get everywhere late. So I plough through the crowds. I don't look back, and as I walk away, I hear the complaints about the rude denizens. The way I see it, I give them a genuine local experience.

I live in a neighborhood where, if I walked around every visitor taking a picture, I'd get everywhere late. So I plough through the crowds. I don't look back, and as I walk away, I hear the complaints about the rude denizens. The way I see it, I give them a genuine local experience.
Estoy en casa con una gripe veraniega pegajosa. Está bien: el médico me dio licencia y me tomo el tiempo para descansar. Está bien no tener que trabajar unos días. Ese es el mundo en el que vivimos, donde enfermarse puede ser una buena.

Estoy en casa con una gripe veraniega pegajosa. Está bien: el médico me dio licencia y me tomo el tiempo para descansar. Está bien no tener que trabajar unos días. Ese es el mundo en el que vivimos, donde enfermarse puede ser una buena.
